ECR Spotlight – Sandy Saunders

چکیده
ECR Spotlight is a series of interviews with early-career authors from selection papers published in Journal Experimental Biology and aims to promote not only the diversity researchers (ECRs) working experimental biology during our centenary year but also huge variety animals physiological systems that are essential for ‘comparative’ approach. Sandy Saunders an author on ‘ Activation respiratory-related bursting isolated medullary section adult bullfrogs’, JEB. postdoc lab Joseph Santin at University Missouri-Columbia, USA, investigating how breathing generated, maintained fails throughout life.

A Spotlight on Spotlight
In this paper, we have made an attempt to take a look under the hood of Spotlight and understand some of the following questions amongst others: • How well-integrated is Spotlight with the file system? • How reliable is the interface between Spotlight and the file system? • Is live update a myth or a reality under heavy file system activity? Based on our experiments, it seems that Spotlight is ...
متن کاملGeneralized Birnbaum-Saunders Distribution
The two-parameter Birnbaum–Saunders (BS) distribution was originally proposed as a failure time distribution for fatigue failure caused under cyclic loading. BS model is a positively skewed statistical distribution which has received great attention in recent decades. Several extensions of this distribution with various degrees of skewness, kurtosis and modality are considered. In particular, a...
متن کاملBirnbaum-Saunders nonlinear regression models
We introduce, for the first time, a new class of Birnbaum–Saunders nonlinear regression models potentially useful in lifetime data analysis. The class generalizes the regression model described by Rieck and Nedelman [1991, A log-linear model for the Birnbaum–Saunders distribution, Technometrics, 33, 51–60]. We discuss maximum likelihood estimation for the parameters of the model, and derive clo...
متن کاملModified slash Birnbaum-Saunders distribution
In this paper, we introduce an extension for the Birnbaum-Saunders (BS) distribution based on the modified slash (MS) distribution proposed by [12]. This new family of BS type distributions is obtained by replacing the usual normal distribution with the quotient of two independent random variables, one being a normal distribution in the numerator and the power of a exponential of parameter equa...
متن کاملBivariate Log Birnbaum-Saunders Distribution
Univariate Birnbaum-Saunders distribution has received a considerable amount of attention in recent years. Rieck and Nedelman (1991, ’A log-linear model for the Birnbaum-Saunders distribution’, Technometrics, 51-60) introduced a log BirnbaumSaunders distribution. The main aim of this paper is to introduce bivariate log Birnbaum-Saunders distribution. The proposed model is symmetric and it has f...
